Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ningbo Institute of Technology, Senior Engineer Xue Jian told reporters that the core of aluminum air batteries are doped with graphene cathode catalyst. The product uses an aluminum plate as the anode. The air cathode, which is inserted into the graphene-based composite catalyst, is filled with the electrolyte and the aluminum reacts with the air to produce electricity.

This aluminum air battery now has 22 national patents, can be used for electric vehicles, communications base stations and other fields. Reporter also learned that in the future aluminum air batteries can also be used lantern, beacon light, because seafarers encountered emergency power shortage case, scoop point seawater, connected to the wire you can generate electricity. According to Dr. Zhao Zhao-ping, a researcher at Key Laboratory of Applied Graphene Research in Zhejiang Province, the pilot production line for cathode test of aluminum air cells with graphene-based composite oxide as catalyst has been completed and can be mass-produced in the future.
