The desulfurization waste liquid produced during the operation of the coke oven gas desulfurization unit is an extremely complex mixture that cannot be directly discharged into the biological dephenolization system for harmless treatment like other industrial waste water, and is mainly discharged into the coal yard to be deposited. Or add coking coal for simple treatment, or evaporate it. However, regardless of the treatment method, there are major drawbacks that restrict the long-term stable operation of the coking plant and the sustainable development of the enterprise.

In order to realize the sustainable development of the enterprise, the Handan Coking Plant puts forward the method of chemical process to harm the harmful components in the desulfurization waste liquid on the basis of organizing the technicians to collect and analyze the desulfurization process conditions and related data at home and abroad. The assumptions of the decomposition treatment were quickly incorporated into the scientific and technological development plan of Shaoguan Steel.

Under the organization and coordination of the company, the coking plant and technical center jointly conducted a laboratory feasibility test with a domestic institution. After repeated trials and efforts to tackle the problem, it finally succeeded.

The innovation and application of this process technology have achieved remarkable economic and social benefits. One is that 10 tons of desulfurization waste liquid can be processed per day, and the COD content of the desulfurization solution after treatment is reduced from the previous 160,000 mg/L to 10,000 mg/L, and further processed by the ammonia distillation process to meet the requirements for biological dephenolization treatment. The second is that after the biological dephenolization and decyanation treatment, it meets the second-grade standard of industrial water, which can be used as quenching water to achieve recycling and reduce water consumption. Third, the solid thiocyanate produced by the chemical process of this process has changed the disadvantages of the low extraction purity that is commonly used in the evaporation process. The purity of the product meets the requirements of the national standard, and has good economic benefits and market prospects. Fourthly, the difficulties in the discharge of desulfurized waste liquid and the resulting pollution have been completely solved in the production process of the original desulfurization process, and clean production has been realized.
