Wei Chaiou VI Heavy Duty TJU-WP12 passed inspection

Since 2015, China has uniformly implemented State IV emission standards for motor vehicles. The reporter learned from Tianjin University that the team led by Prof. Su Wanhua, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, recently cooperated with Weichai Power Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Zhongzi Exhaust Gas Purification Co., Ltd. and successfully developed a domestically-accepted, fully independent intellectual property to meet Euro VI emission standards. High efficiency, low fuel consumption heavy duty diesel engine - TJU-WP12 diesel engine.

Weichai Engine

The TJU-WP12 diesel engine passed the WHSC, WHTC and WNTE Euro VI regulations and tests conducted by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center. All indicators are equivalent to those of the same advanced engines in the world. TJU-WP12 diesel engine has completely independent intellectual property rights including engine electronic control unit (ECU) and post-processing system. TJU-WP12 diesel engine also left 20% -30% of the emission allowance, the minimum fuel consumption rate ≤ 190g/kWh. The R&D team achieved efficient clean combustion in all conditions (urban roads, highways, and country roads).

During the development process, the aircraft has overcome several major technical problems, overcome the difficulties of low burst pressure and low maximum injection pressure, and achieved low pollution and low fuel consumption. Raising the engine's outburst pressure helps to reduce fuel consumption. The maximum allowable burst pressure of the international model is generally over 20 MPa. The design team of the TJU-WP12 diesel engine achieved international advanced level of fuel consumption with the index as low as 16.5 MPa. rate. The maximum injection pressure of the international similar model fuel supply system is usually greater than 200 MPa, and the maximum injection pressure of the diesel fuel supply system is 180 MPa, which greatly reduces the production cost of the engine.

Euro VI emission standards are the latest engine emission standards currently in effect in the EU, and stricter emission requirements for nitrogen oxides and fine particulate matter (PM). It is reported that Singapore recently announced that it will implement Euro VI emission standards for its diesel-powered vehicles in 2018. Starting from September 1, 2017, the country will adopt Euro VI standards for its gasoline-powered vehicles.
