European Parliament proposes mandatory installation of ESC on heavy trucks and buses

WABCO announced on March 25 that the company will respond positively to the European Parliament’s decision to force the installation of the ESC (Electronic Stability Control System for Vehicles).

On March 10, 2009, the European Parliament proposed to impose ESC (vehicle electronic stability control system), deviation warning system (LDW), and automatic emergency braking (AEB) on heavy trucks and buses to reduce traffic accidents. Emergency braking technology (AEB) will be mandatory from 2013 onwards.

Less than 10% of heavy trucks in Europe are equipped with ESC. In view of the European Commission’s mandatory installation of a new set of on-board DAS in trucks, WABCO is working hard to develop a system that includes automatic emergency braking (AEB), deviation warning (LDW) and blind spot monitoring systems. In-vehicle safety driving assistance system (DAS).

Weiboko, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, has been a global leader in commercial vehicle control systems for more than 140 years and has achieved many technological breakthroughs. WABCO launched OnGuardMax, an independent research and development company, in 2008. OnGuardMax uses WABCO's latest R&D results and pioneering driver assistance technology - Automatic Emergency Brake System (AEB) - to help autopilot respond quickly to heavy-duty trucks when a rear-end collision occurs. Avoid danger. The company’s sales in 2008 reached 2.6 billion U.S. dollars.
