After the person in charge of the gardening department of Jixian County arrived at the scene, it was confirmed that it was a hundred-year-old banyan tree and it was a registered tree of the gardening department.

According to eyewitnesses, at about 23 o'clock on the 24th, a sudden thunder and lightning, this old tree is inexplicable spontaneous combustion, nearby residents spontaneously took out a basin, buckets and other water containers to splash water to save the fire. However, the fire was getting more and more prosperous by the wind, and the residents saw that the fire extinguishing effect was not good, and quickly called the 119 alarm. After the fire officers and soldiers arrived at the scene, they used water guns to extinguish the fire. After more than six hours of fighting, the fire was finally controlled.

It is understood that a lightning strike may cause the ancient tree to catch fire.
