Initial capacity of the Russian tire new plant in the mainland reached 4 million/year

Continental has announced that its new plant in Kaluga, Russia, has already been put into operation. The initial tire production capacity will reach 4 million pieces/year.

The Kaluga plant broke ground in November 2011 and was completed in less than two years, during which the Continental Group invested 240 million euros in the plant. In the early stages of operation, the Kaluga plant can produce 4 million tires each year, and the total number of employees will exceed 800 by 2015.

Currently, Kaluga has developed a mature automotive industry cluster. European auto manufacturers such as Volkswagen, PSMA and Volvo Trucks , as well as parts suppliers such as Magna, Foglia, and Bentel, have established factories there.

Jaron Wiedmaier, head and general manager of marketing and sales at the Continental Forum Russia Company, said that the tires produced at the Kaluga plant will be passed through tire chain dealers and will be supplied to the automakers and replacement tire market.
