Electric vehicles lose 60% of their cruising mileage in cold weather

South Carolina Automotive Research Center released the latest research report, confirmed the people have been skeptical of electric vehicle technology: cold and extreme heat can affect the mileage of electric vehicles. In order to collect data, AAA measured the cruising range of the three all- electric vehicles . Each vehicle completed a standard EPA-DOE test procedure: warm, hot and cold weather. It was found that at a moderate temperature (75 degrees Fahrenheit), the battery has a range of 105 miles, while at 20 degrees Fahrenheit, the cruising range dropped to 43 miles, a drop of up to 57%, and the hot weather is relatively good. At 95 degrees Fahrenheit, the car can drive 69 miles, but it still has a big impact.

AAA said that electric vehicles provide smooth and rapid acceleration, require less costly maintenance than internal combustion engines, and are cost-effective, but people in cold and high heat areas must be careful to buy electric vehicles because it is difficult to perform best.
